Nepali swimmer Alexander Shah has set a new national record in men's 100m freestyle in the Paris Olympics.
According to the state-owned RSS, Shah improved his own record of 52.17 seconds by completing the set distance in 51.91 seconds in heat 3 held at La Defense Arena in Paris, France. He came third in heat 3 among eight swimmers.
A total of 79 players competed in the same category in which Shah finished in the 59th position, RSS added.
Along with Alexander, Santoo Shrestha of table tennis, Sushmita Nepal of shooting, Duwana Lama of swimming and Manita Shrestha Pradhan of judo represented Nepal in the Summer Olympics. They have all been eliminated in the first round of their respective sport.
