Nepal finished runners-up in the 6th Singapore International Wushu Championship (Festival) securing 13 gold and nine silver medals. A 12-member team from Nepal had participated in the event held in Singapore under the leadership of coach Bishal Thapa. Thapa won the best coach award in the championship.
Athletes Alice Marik won three golds and Himanshu Khadka won two golds in various categories. Saphal Pathak, Bhavesh Khadka, Sameer Basnet, Rhythm Gole secure one gold each. Similarly, coach Thapa informed that Babita Thapamgar won two golds, Preksha Lama and Yanchenla Ilawa bagged one gold each.
Similarly Safal Pathak, Sameer Basnet, Rhythm Gole also managed to secure one silver each. On the women's side, Serina Parajuli and Furpigyalmo Tamang won two silver medals each and Yanchenla Ilawa bagged one silver in the group event, Nepal Wushu Federation’s General Secretary Navraj Dhungana said.
The team recently returned home. On Wednesday, acting member secretary of the National Sports Council (NSC) Anjan Dhamala congratulated the players and honored them. He said that the good performance of the players has made all Nepalis proud.
